""German Whip" is the debut single by grime artist Meridian Dan, released as the lead single from his forthcoming debut album, I Am London. The song features vocals from rappers Big H and JME, and was produced by The HeavyTrackerz, who have been credited with production for many other chart- successful songs. The song entered the UK Singles Chart on 20 May 2014 at number 13, which remains its highest charting position. Background and release The song was released on 13 April 2014, having achieved nationwide recognition beforehand. The song has been added to BBC Radio 1Xtra's A-list and has received support from BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and Capital Radio. The song is a panegyric on the subject of driving high-quality German precision engineered motor cars with blacked out windows whilst leaning back. The phrase "whip" was used after various rappers noticed that the Mercedes-Benz logo resembled a steering wheel, which used to be called a whip. Music video The song has two music videos. The first was released in 2013, directed by Jay Parpworth and produced by SB.TV, gaining 10.4 million views and was shown nationwide via all major TV channels such as MTV and The Box. The second was released six months later and was produced by Vevo, and features an array of German cars. Critical reception Critical reception has been positive to mixed. Swarve Men Magazine called the song "awesomely catchy". Robert Foster of Bankholidaycomes.com said the song was a "little nugget of grime fun". In addition, Stagedoor.fm said that heaven would be "hot weather, coupled with the windows down, plus [the Skepta, Professor Green, Bossman Birdie & Rizzle Kicks] remix". However, Robin Murray of Clashmusic.com commended Meridian Dan's "untamed vocal", but dismissed the beat as "ridiculous". Complex magazine ranked the song second on their list of "Grime's Most Impatcful Songs of the 2010s", calling it an "anthem to kickstart the [grime] buzz - most importantly bringing grime back to commercial daytime radio". Legacy The song has been credited with steering grime's unexpected comeback. In addition, T-shirt Party created a T-shirt in homage to the song, which contains Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen logos. "Praha-Žižkov freight railway station () is a railway station formerly used for rail freight transport, located in the Žižkov district of Prague, the capital of the Czechia. It was originally opened in 1936 and ceased operations in 2002. The station building was confirmed as a cultural monument in March 2013. Service The station, which was built in an area previously known as ', went into service on 1 March 1936. The buildings were designed by Karel Caivas and Vladimír Weiss, whereas Miroslav Chlumecký designed the track infrastructure. The purpose of the station was to relieve Prague city centre of freight train services. It was also used for warehousing, although the creation of a food warehouse in the district of Strašnice in 1966 reduced the demand at the station. The station's formal service ceased in 2002. The access track with a rail branching is used for a container terminal which is adjacent to the freight station building and is in service up to now. Usage beyond 2002 Following its closure in 2002, parts of the station were leased to local businesses for use as a warehouse. The station hosted the Prague Biennale art exhibition in June 2013. In October of the same year, the 15th edition of the annual Designblok festival was hosted there. Developers had wanted to use the area to construct a new residential area to house 15,000 people. The building's status was however secured in March 2013, with its historical, technical and architectural value among the reasons cited for its confirmed status. Local transport The station is served by Prague's tram network with a stop bearing the station's name. "Keith Joseph Browning (5 February 1933 – 2 November 2013) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Browning, a centreman and half forward, made his league debut for South Melbourne in 1951, after starting the season in the thirds. He played 53 games at South Melbourne, from 1951 to 1954, then joined Latrobe Valley Football League club Trafalgar, as playing coach for two seasons From 1961 to 1967, Browning again coached Trafalgar and steered the club to a premiership in 1962. He was the father of South Melbourne/Sydney player Mark Browning.
